Brown rice is a highly nutritious, gluten-free grain. The health benefits are due to it being a whole grain, unlike white rice that has had its husk, bran and germ removed. The bran in brown rice contains dietary fibre which helps to lower cholesterol and may help improve diabetes and heart disease. The fibre helps to move waste through the digestive tract keeping us healthy on the inside!
The germ has an impressive amount of vitamins and minerals, which makes brown rice a healthy option on a plant based diet (or any diet for that matter). Brown rice is a low glycemic grain which helps to satiate us for longer!
2cups brown rice
4 cups water
(simmer 30mins until cooked),drain.
While hot add to rice :-
Apple Cider Vinegar dressing :-
8tbsp extra virgin organic olive oil
2-3tbsp apple cider vinegar
1-2 cloves garlic
Drizzle of tamari sauce
1-2tsps runny honey
Place above in screw top jar and shake.
I added to rice mixture :-
1 small red onion
1 Red, 1 yellow and 1 orange bell pepper
1/2 cup parsley
2 stalks celery
2 generous handfuls of currants
1/2 cup toasted cashews
