Chronic Pain to Full of Life: How Strength Training Gave Me My Freedom Back

A riding accident, followed by a complicated childbirth, left me in almost constant pain. By my forties, I could no longer exercise or lift without discomfort—life had become a daily struggle. But training with Jody changed everything. Jody’s patience, expertise, and skilled guidance helped me re build my strength, confidence, and mobility. Today, I am pain-free and once again able to cycle, kayak, and live life fully. I got my life back—and I’m loving every moment 💕

Strength training after an injury is essential for long-term recovery and resilience. When the body experiences injury, muscles, tendons, and joints often become weaker or imbalanced due to disuse, compensation, or trauma. Strength training helps rebuild muscle tissue, restore stability, and support proper alignment, which can significantly reduce the risk of re-injury. It also improves blood flow to the injured area, aiding in healing and reducing chronic inflammation or stiffness that may linger post-injury.

Beyond the physical benefits, strength training also plays a vital role in restoring confidence and function. Many people avoid movement after an injury out of fear, but gradually reintroducing safe, targeted exercises helps reclaim mobility and independence. This is especially important as we age, since muscle loss and reduced bone density can compound injury effects.

A well-designed strength program can not only support the healing process but also empower individuals to regain control over their health, improve posture, reduce pain, and return to activities they love.
